SiVEC Biotechnologies and RheumaGen Announce Partnership to Advance In Vivo Gene-Editing Therapies

SiVEC and RheumaGen entered a licensing and joint development partnership to advance HLA-targeted, in vivo gene-editing therapies for autoimmune diseases.

SiVEC Biotechnologies has entered a licensing and joint development partnership with RheumaGen, Inc. to accelerate a new class of HLA-targeted gene-editing therapies for autoimmune diseases. Through this collaboration, RheumaGen will leverage SiVEC’s BactPac bacterial delivery platform to enhance scalability, streamline manufacturing, and enable in vivo delivery of gene-editing payloads. The agreement also establishes a co-development program focused on advancing curative, in vivo therapies. As part of the collaboration, RheumaGen CEO and Co-Founder Richard Freed has joined SiVEC’s Board of Directors. RheumaGen’s lead program, RG0401, is being developed as a one-time, potentially curative treatment for patients with refractory rheumatoid arthritis who currently have no effective therapeutic options.
